When many Danes think of Tuscany, they often picture rolling hills, golden sunflower fields, and long avenues of slender cypress trees. And yes \u2013 Tuscany is beautiful. But the idea of unbearably hot, stagnant summer days can quickly dampen the desire to be active.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Fortunately, there\u2019s another side to Tuscany \u2013 a greener, cooler, and far more undiscovered region<\/strong>: Northern Tuscany<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here you\u2019ll find Garfagnana<\/strong>, a scenic area north of Lucca, a city many Danes consider a favorite destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many routes can be completed in \u00bd to 2 hours and connect villages with small mountain huts \u2013 so-called rifugi \u2013 where you can get refreshments and often enjoy tasty local dishes in beautiful natural surroundings.

A good pair of hiking boots is all you need. The many marked trails \u2013 clearly signposted with the classic red and white markers \u2013 make it easy and safe for children, adults, and seniors alike to explore.
For the more adventurous, the area offers an extensive network of longer trails leading over mountain passes into Emilia Romagna, past mountain lakes, and all the way to panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Mediterranean. Large parts of the region are also national park, ensuring a rich diversity of plants, animals, and birdlife.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
